December 2007

12/24/07 - Merry Christmas! Logan is finally going to get to enjoy his first Christmas. I am so excited. I know next year will be more meaningful to him, but it means a lot to me this year. I am off work this whole week and am glad I get to spend some quality time with him. He is becoming quite the Mommy's boy lately. I love it!!!! A lot has gone on the last 2 weeks. He was having some really bad fussy days and started not sleeping good at night. I called the pediatrician and took him in only to find out he has his first ear infection in his right ear. Luckily I took him in early and we started antibiotics before it got too bad. He is sleeping a lot better now. Saturday night he didn't fuss all night and only woke up to have his bottle at 330. Seems like we might be making some break throughs.
Ben and I still have not seen him roll over, but he has done it for both of his grandma's. Just yesterday I noticed that he was laying down playing with a toy and dropped it by his side. Next thing I know he had it in his hand again. That is the first time I have seen him pick a toy back up. Also yesterday was the first time I know of that he fell to sleep in his car seat without me having to stick the passy in his mouth. I know these are all little steps, but hopefully we are going in the right direction!!
Mommy had a big week too. Last Sunday I was Saved at Church. It has been really hard on me lately with Logan and the new house and still considered being a newlywed. I asked the Lord for help and I have had a lot of weight fall off my shoulders. We had a dedication for Logan at Church yesterday. he absolutely loves being in Church. He is so pleasant and loves the singing.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas!
Love you all!!

November 2007

11/30/07 - Thanksgiving was great. We got to see Landon and Parker and Micheal and Kristy. Logan had a cold for the last week and had to go to the doctor on Monday. I know you won't believe this, but that chunky monkey is a whopping 18.3 lbs now. I know. I know. He's a big boy! It's mostly because we have started him on foods now and he hasn't backed off any of his bottles yet. So far we are eating applesauce, cereal, carrots and green beans. He LOVES to eat from the spoon and sit in his high chair. I also got him a new big boy bathtub. It's a blow up duck bathtub. He loves it. He loves his bath time so I knew he would like the tub. He still isn't sleeping thru the night, he hasn't rolled over and he is working really hard on trying to sit up. We have about a hundred toys and little entertainment things in our living room. It's like its own little playpen area.
Tomorrow we are taking him to have pictures done with Santa so I hope to have some new pictures up soon. Love you all.

11/9/07 - Logan had his 4 month check up today. Everything was great. He is in the 80th percentile on everything...big ole head (17+").....tall boy (26")...and a whopping 16.5 lbs!!! Yes that's right. It is not a typo..we have a sumo wrestler on our hands. I sure hope he starts crawling soon. It's like lifting weights everytime you pick him up. If next time you see me I look like a hunch back, it's from carrying my son and his car seat! His shots were good and he has done really well with them this time so far. No fever and just a little bit of fussiness.
Good news - - We have finally stopped swaddling him at night. He loves it. he is so free. He flaps his arms occasionally, but will usually go right back to sleep. I decided last night that since he wasn't snug in the swaddle that I needed to start putting him in the little sleepers at night for bed. Well all we have are the ones with feet in them (and I have about 20 of them). Well along with a big head......big belly and long legs comes big feet. My plan this weekend is to go thru all of them and cut the feet out so big foot can sleep at night! Ha
We are going to Birmingham next weekend to see all of Ben's relatives for an early Thanksgiving lunch. Most of them have not seen Logan so we are very excited to show off our bundle of joy! Plus we will finally get to see his little cousin Molly! I will update with lots of pictures as soon as I can.
We got moved into the house this past weekend and it is so awesome to be in our own house again. It's going to take forever to get unpacked it seems. A 4 month old doesn't allow much unpacking to go on. Hopefully this weekend I can get a lot of stuff accomplished and find my camera. I will take pics as soon as I can. Love you all!

11/1/07 - Logan had his first Halloween. We got to see the little kids in their costumes and then he was ready to go to bed.
He is growing like a weed. I always follow that up by saying that he is as heavy as a tree trunk. Ha Big boy is getting big. He is now eating ceral and applesauce. We tried some bananas last night and he wasn't quite sure of them.  We may hold off on introducing them. We go back next Friday for his 4 month check up. I am curious to see how much he weighs now. We are still working on getting rid of the middle of the night bottle, but he isn't quite ready to throw it away yet. He is on a pretty good schedule. Eating every 4 hours still.
Like I said in one of the pictures, he still hasn't rolled over. I know he will do it in his own time, but I want him to do a trick already. At this point I think he may sit up before he rolls over. He is getting to be so strong. It's amazing how much he has changed in 4 months.
We are supposed to close on our house tomorrow. Finally I can get his nursery decorated!!!! I can't wait. I will take lots of pictures once we get in the house. It's so pretty!!!!

October 2007

10/17/07 - WOW Logan is already 3 months old. I can't believe it. He has changed so much. I have been really busy. I started back to work on the 10th and it has been really hard on mommy. I miss my little boy everyday. I get about 2 hours with him at night before he goes to sleep. I can't wait for him to be a little more interactive. He smiles ALL the time and laughs and talks up a storm. He is getting to b e a BIG boy. Growing like a weed. He is already trying to sit up. He is still pretty wobbly, but he tries really hard. Sorry it took so long for the update. I hope to be able to keep up once I get back in the swing of work and everything.

September 2007

9/27/07 - Logan had his first set of shots on Monday. I was really worried about giving them to him, but I went ahead with it. He was in a good bit of pain on Monday. his poor little legs were sore and he was running a little bit of a fever until Tuesday night. The poor thing didn't have much of an appetite and we backed down to 3oz bottles for about a day. he has more than caught back up now though. I started with a little over 5 oz today and he is happy as a stuffed pig again. Ha. He is one fussy little boy if you try to pull that bottle away before he is finished, but once he is done he is so content. he is doing pretty good on the new medicine for the reflux. I have figured out that when they normally say you need to give it to them about 15-20 mins before they eat, Logan does a lot better when I give it to him about an hour ahead of time. He still spits up and occasionally throws up all over me, but he seems to be doing a lot better. We still battle constipation every so often because of the cereal in the bottle, but like the doctor said: The cereal helps the reflux , but it gives him gas and may make him constipated. Without the cereal his reflux acts up really bad. Double edged sword!!!
Well I start back to work on the 10th and I am SOOOO not ready to go back. I look forward to the "break", but I am going to miss him so much during the day. These last few days I can really tell that he knows I am mommy. He looks at me and just stares and smiles and coos almost as if he wants to say " I Love You Mommy. You take such good care of me." I know, I know, I may never hear the second part, but I am hopefull!
Our house is coming along!!! They painted it this week and are hanging dry wall this weekend. The cabinets should be installed sometime next week/end. I can't wait for us to live there and be able to decorate Logan's room like I want! It's going to be so beautiful!!!
Well thanks for checking up on us! We love you!

9/15/07 - Logan has been doing pretty good. He has his fussy days. We have been feeding him cereal to help with the reflux. I think he has too much in his system though and it seems to have constipated him a little. So we are giving him pear juice and Karo syrup to get him regulated again. I stopped giving him the cereal for now until he starts pooping regularly again. We also changed him from Prevacid to Zegerid for the reflux and it seems to be working a lot better. He still spits up, but no more than a normal baby would. Just wanted to give everyone an update. Love you all.

9/8/07 - Logan has been doing really good. We had an Upper GI on Wednesday and although the results were great, he had to drink Barium and it really messed up his stomach for a few days. It constipated him a little and made him hurt a little. I think we are in the clear now though. He is doing great. We have been having some really good nights. Thursday night he ate at 800pm and went to sleep around 930pm and slept until 445am. First time he has ever done that. I don't usually let him go more than 5-6 hours without eating, but I am also use to him waking me up. Then last night he ate at 630pm and went to sleep around 930pm and didn't wake up until I woke him up at 100am. Then he ate and went back to sleep for 4 more hours. He finally seems to be able to rest. Probably catching up from all the nights where he was hurting and gassy. Well I have posted some more pictures. We were supposed to go to Birmingham this weekend, but daddy is really sick with a cold/flu bug and we can't afford for Logan to get sick. So we are decked out in football gear today and ready to watch some foozball.

9/2/07 - Logan is doing GREAT! We started putting cereal in his bottle on Wednesday night and with the formula and the cereal he is now eating a 5 oz bottle and loving it. The Prevacid seems to be doing the trick for the most part. I think we will have to up the dosage because it seems to wear off before the next dose. All in all though we have had several good days in a row. I finally feel like he is doing better. We are still going on Wednesday to have the Upper GI done to make sure everything looks good inside.
Logan had his 6 week portraits done on Friday. He did SO good as you can tell. The pictures turned out so good.
We went on Saturday to see Kristin, Dave and little Will. The best buds finally got to meet outside of the hospital. They were on complete opposite schedules. They cried, slept, fussed and ate at different times, but we managed to get a few good pictures of them!
Also - Daddy and Logan sat and watched their first Alabama football game. I was able to find the perfect little jersey for Logan to match daddy

8/28/2007 - Still having diaper issues

Well we had a problem with Logan's diaper again last Tuesday night so we had to take him to the Pediatrician again. AGAIN they changed his formula, this time to Elecare. It is an Amino Acid based elemental formula that is broken down to it's simplest form. THe Nutramigen, although it has no milk or soy protein, it does have bits of broken down milk protein. He obviously is very allergic to it. He is doing pretty good on it so far. It's pretty spendy, but worth it if he doesn't have any more bad diapers. We went to the GI doctor yesterday to have everything checked out since we have had so many problems already. The doctor said that the Elecare "should" take care of the poop problems. He went ahead and gave us a few things to look further into: 1) He is doing a stool culture to see if there is any bacteria. If there is, then they will give him some antibiotics. He said it should take 2-3 days to see the results; 2) He had us do some blood work to see if there was anything to see there and to make sure that he wasn't anemic; 3) He changed us off the AXID acid reflux medicine (finally - I really don't think it was doing anything for him). He changed it to infant Prevacid which has to be mixed by a medicine doctor! (You got it - Spendy!); 4) He told us to add cereal to his bottle. he said it will hopefully help with the acid reflux by making it thicker and it will help to make his stool a little more consistent; 5) He is having us have an Upper GI next week(he will have to drink something and they watch it go through his insides to make sure everything is working properly and is where it is supposed to be).

All in all I felt good that we are at least doing something to check everything out. I will update after we have the Upper GI done next week. Good news - we have had 2 "pretty good" days so far so we will see..........

8/17/2007

Logan is one month old today!!!! WOW! He is doing pretty good. He is still being really fussy, but seems to be sleeping a little bit better. He stays awake during the day a lot (becuase he is fussing) so it helps him sleep at night. We went to the pediatrician yesterday and he is getting to be a big boy! He is 9lb 5.2 oz and has already grown 1.5". He is now 21.5" long. In honor of his one month birthday I have added some pictures from Grammy's camera. They are going to be out of order, but I figure it's ok!

8/13/2007

Logan is 4 weeks old today. It's amazing that it has already been a month. We have had some trying times the last few weeks. He has a very sensitive stomach like his mommy and I hate it. We have changed his formula 4 times already. We now have him on a hypoallergenic formula called Nutramagen and he is doing ok on it. We had him on Soy and he was doing pretty good until last Thursday when I found some blood in his poopy diaper. The pediatrician said that he is allergic to soy protein and we had to take him off of it. Sunday we ended up taking him to the immediate med because he was uncontrollably crying and we were afraid something was wrong. The doctor checked him out and said that everything was fine and that we need to keep him on the Nutramagen formula. They told us to feed him every 4 hours instead of every 2.5-3. His tummy is sensitive and the time between feedings has to be increased so it has enough time to digest. The doctor told us that we should start seeing a difference in about a week or two. He has done pretty good since then. Feeding every 4 hours is actually easier than we thought it would be. He gets a little fussy before the 4th hour, but a little cuddling, pacifier and Mylicon seem to be keeping it under control.

Also, we tried to take him to get some pictures done last week and he was not very happy. We had to cut it short. We will try again sometime soon and I will post pics as soon as I can.

Until then, enjoy the updated pictures!

8/4/2007

Logan is doing great! We had another pediatrician appt yesterday and he weighs 8 lb 6 oz. The doctor said he looks great and is growing wonderfully. He is doing pretty good on the soy formula with the Axid medicine now. He has cranky periods (during the day luckily), but sleeps like a champ at night. Thank goodness for mommy. He is such a good baby! I am blessed! He is finally pooping a little more which I think makes him feel better. Daddy had a war zone around here yesterday while I ran to Walmart. Let's just say he used TWO changing table areas bc the first one was a mess. HA HA He likes pooping for his daddy that is for sure! Mommy put his swing together today. I was going to wait until we moved, but I think he needs some swing time. PLUS the book "The Happiest Baby on the Block" recommends the 5 S's and it includes swinging, shhhing, swaddling, side/stomach laying, and I forget the other one. My doctor recommended the book and said it is wonderful. We will see!!! Next doctor's appt is in about 6 weeks when he is 2 months old. Thanks for all of the well wishes!!!!

7/30/2007

Well I decided last night that Logan needed to be on Soy formula. He was in so much pain after every feeding that I couldn't take it anymore. Ben and I were both on Soy formula when we were little so I think Logan just can't handle the regular milk formula.

Does anyone know anything about the medication AXID? The pediatrician put him on it, but I was researching it and it doesn't really say that it has been proven to work on children. We only give him 1 mL twice a day, but I wonder how much good it is actually doing. I read that it is for stomach ulcers. I think he just has a really bad gas problem. He toots all day, but for some reason he seems to still have gas pains. Hopefully the Soy formula will help with that. I am going to try putting some Karo syrup in his bottle. I have heard from a few people that it will help with constipation better than the juice.

I will post 2 week pictures sometime today. Thanks for all of your well wishes!!!

My "technical" due date

Well today was my technical due date and Logan is 1 week and 6 days old today. It's crazy to think that he is almost 2 weeks old. We went to the pediatrician again on Friday and he weighed 8 lb 4 oz. He is still having some gas problems so they put him on some medication to see if it will help. The doctor called it "Baby Zantac". He seems to be pooping a little more regularly today thank goodness. I gave him some apple/prune juice yesterday to try to help him poop and it made his stomach really upset. I think we are going to stick with a little bit of pear juice every day. He seemed to do pretty good on that.

So far we are having pretty good nights and have gotten him on a pretty regular 3 hour schedule. He got his first "real" bath today since his little belly button fell off on Friday at the doctor's office. He is not a big fan of the baths, but he smells so good when he gets done. I think we will bathing a lot until he puts on some more weight because he seems to be between sizes on the diapers and keeps peeing on himself. The petite diapers are too small and the newborn diapers are still a little too big. He has a tiny little butt that doesn't fill them out.

Logan Pooped! Yippee

7/25/07 - Logan pooped today!!!! I never thought I would be so excited about bowel movements!!!! He is still having some gas issues, but other than that he is a GREAT baby!!!

Logan's 1st Pediatrician Visit

7/24/07 - Logan had his first pediatrician appointment today. Everything was good. He has a little bit of jaundice and he dropped a few ounces. He now weighs 7lb 12.5 oz. He has had really bad gas pains and hasn't pooped since Sunday so the doctor told us to change his formula to Similac Alimentum and to give him some pear juice. We have to take him back on Friday for a check up.

Welcome to the World Logan! 7/17/07

Logan Alexander was born on 7/17/07 at 7:08pm. I checked into the hospital at 10:00pm on Monday July 16th and they put in the Cervadil to soften my cervix. At 5:00am on Tuesday they took it out and let me shower and get prepared for the long day ahead. At 6:00am they started me on pitocin. The doctor came in around 8:30am and checked for dilation and I was about 1-2cm so she broke my water. As soon as she broke my water the contractions started coming about 1-2 minutes apart. I was in a LOT of pain and they almost immediately started some pain meds thru my IV's. The doctor came back around 10:00 and I was dilated to about 3cm. I asked for the epidural and got it at about 10:30. Life was good after that. I seemed to be progressing pretty good for the doctor, but Logan was not dropping. By about 4:00pm I was 5cm, 100% effaced and Logan was still at -3. We discussed that if she came back in a few hours and he had not moved then we should talk about a c-section. She came back in at 6:00pm and nothing had changed. We decided to schedule the c-section. After that everything went so fast. The anesthesiologist came in at 6:30 and started me on the extra-special c-section epidural. My body was completely numb from the chest down it was weird feeling. At about 6:45 they started rolling us down to the OR. Once we were in the room it seemed to go by so quick. They prepped me, pulled up the blue screen, put the oxygen mask on, called Ben in the room and started the surgery. At 7:08pm Logan came into this world!!! Here are some pics of the wonderful day!

He was not a happy camper!

I had a fever going into surgery so once he was born they took me to recovery and then he had to go to the nursery to be checked to make sure he didn't have a fever. They started me on antibiotics and gave him some for 24 hours. Everything was fine though. I went to my room at about 9:30pm and Logan was rolled in shortly thereafter. There were about 15 people in the room. It was so great to finally be able to show off my little boy. Ben is such a proud daddy. He did such a great job in the OR and took some great pictures!

We were in the hospital until Saturday. Those 4 days were filled with meds, visitors, sleep, tv, etc. We were able to get some sleep at night while Logan rested peacefully in the nursery.

We came home on Saturday and I had a rough few first days at home. Grammy McCracken came over on Sunday and has been taking real good care of him while mommy is getting better. I got some medicine to help and it seems to be working. I just have to say, hormones are crazy!!!!

38 Weeks & 2 Days

At my doctor appointment this morning I was 1cm dilated so they agreed to let me try to induce before we go straight for the c-section. So I check in tonight at the hospital and they will give me Cervadil to help soften my cervix. They will leave it in and start me on pitocin tomorrow morning. She said if I am not progressing by tomorrow afternoon/evening we will go ahead with the c-section. This will at least allow me to try to have him "naturally" rather than with surgery. I hope all the meds work and he makes his way into the world without surgery. Either way he will be born tomorrow it just depends on the method! We will post pictures as soon as we can!!!!

37 Weeks & 3 Days

Well I had my appointment today. He has not made any progress and neither has my cervix so we have scheduled a c-section for next Thursday, July 19th. I will get to see my little boy in 8 days, unless he decides to make a drastic change and come on his own before then. I am excited and scared at the same time. I guess this is better than trying to push a 10+ pounder out. I will let everyone know how it all goes as soon as I can. Wish me luck!

37 Weeks

I had my ultrasound yesterday. He is supposedly a whopping 8 lbs 10 oz right now. I know - he's HUGE! I have lovingly nicknamed him GIGANTOR for the time being. I am still hoping that the u/s is off by a little, but we won't know until he is born. I go to the doctor on Wednesday and I will hopefully be able to discuss delivery options. I want to try to avoid having a c-section, but induction won't really even be a topic if my cervix is not dilated or effaced yet. We will see how everything turns out and I will update after the appt.

36 Weeks & 6 Days (Kristin had Will today!!)

I had my doctor's appt this morning and there is still no change (no dilation and no effacement). I was a little disappointed, but I guess he is cozy in there. I go on Monday for another u/s to see how much he weighs now. Nothing else to report except that my bp was really good today. yay!

Kristin gave birth to William Wade Styers today. I only hope that I can have the kind of labor that she had. She started having contractions last night around 6pm. They went to the hospital around 11:00pm. Her water broke at 2:00am and she got an epidural. She was dilated to a 10 by 7:30 and had him at 7:45am after 2 pushes. He is 7lb 5.5oz and 20" long. He has beautiful blond hair and is adorable. He seems to be doing a LOT of sleeping today. Here is my first picture of him:

36 Weeks

We had an ultrasound today. Everything went great today. They did not check his weight again, but will at the appt next Monday. THe fluid looks good and everything seems to be working properly. His face looks fatter to me this week, but it may have just been his position. He is still head down, but he keeps back forth from left or right so today he was curled up with his back on my left and his face, arms and legs towards the right. He flip flops like a pancake in there though so there is no telling where he will end up. The doctor checked my BP and it looked really good today. I see the obgyn on Friday and will update after that. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO EVERYONE!!! BE SAFE!!! DON'T CATCH ANY TREES ON FIRE!!

35 Weeks & 6 Days

YAY IT'S FINALLY MY MONTH!!!!!!!!
Everything is going pretty good. I had my first exam on Friday and it put me in a LOT of pain. I haven't had any Braxton Hicks contractions the whole time and on Friday I had them all day and was cramping really bad. I thought the doctor had put me into labor. There wasn't really any progress. He said my cervix was softening, that was about it. I asked him if we would have him early because he is so big and he said it is a possibility. My BP was sort of high and this week the NST was the opposite problem. Logan would not stay still. We had the monitor on for over an hour because for the 1st 30-40 minutes he was beating me up inside and the monitor could not track his heart rate.

I have another ultrasound on Tuesday so we will see how much he has grown and then the doctor appt is on Friday. I am just too excited that it is finally MY month. I am so ready for him to be here I can't stand it anymore.

Julie had her baby!

Julie Jordan had her baby boy Mason Dean Jordan on 6/20/07 via c-section. Her water broke that morning and after slow progression and eradic heart rate changes they decided to have a c-section. He weighed in at 7lb 3 oz. Julie and baby went home on 6/23/07 (her due date) and are doing great!

34 Weeks & 4 Days

Well I had a big morning. I had my doctor appt with the NST which went well. My BP was sort of high like it was when they put me on bedrest. The NST took longer to finish because Logan was being very still and they needed movement out of him. I wasn't feeling good this morning so I didn't eat much before we got there so they made me drink some juice while I was doing the test. I haven't been feeling well the last 2 days. My stomach has been really upset and my back has been hurting. I haven't been having any sort of contractions or anything though so I haven't thought much of it.

Well I went after that appt to have the biophysical u/s done. Let's just say I got a lot of info. He is head down and back out in the ready position. And although I am 34 weeks, he is measuring 38 weeks because he is ALREADY 7lb and 10oz. The doctor said everything looked good (amniotic fluid, lungs, cord blood flow, etc.) he is just really big. Based on the pains I have been having down low, I wouldn't be surprised if I am dilated/effaced some by now, but they haven't checked so we will see next time if they do. The doctor gave me all of the precautions about possibly having him early, planning a c-section if he gets bigger and maybe not letting me go the full 40. It will all be up to my doctor though. Sooooooooo maybe Logan will make his appearance before we originally thought. I sure hope so because otherwise this will be a BIG baby!!!!

34 Weeks

Happy Father's Day to all the daddy's out there. Ben wants it to be his day today so bad. I told him that if I didn't get Mother's Day, then he doesn't get Father's Day. He has to work anyways. We had our Childbirth Preparation Class yesterday. It was SO long. I was worn out last night and even though we were sitting on the floor mats all day, my feet were really swollen last night. It just wears me out to do anything other than sit in this recliner. I slept in until 1100 today which is a HUGE accomplishment. I don't get many of those anymore, but try to take full advantage of them when I can and need to. I went to the doctor on Friday and my BP was good. The doctor was very pleased and told me to keep taking it easy. I was a little swollen when I went, but nothing like last week. He has me schedule a biophysical u/s so we can check the amniotic fluid around Logan and see how big he is, how he is lying, etc. That appt is Thursday. Hopefully I will get some new pictures for the baby book. I will update after the appt.

33 Weeks

I had a doctors appt on Wednesday and my blood pressure was a little elevated so she took me out of work until Monday and had me go back to the doctor Friday. My blood pressure was a little better, but still not normal and my feet swelled up from the time I woke up until we got to the doctor. He told me that he wanted me to rest and not work for a few weeks and we will re-evaluate around the 30th. So I am currently out of work and laid up in the bed/couch/recliner for a while. I should be very rested for Logan's arrival when it comes! If anyone wants to email me or chat on Yahoo Messenger (mrs.thornton21@yahoo.com), I will be waiting!!!!

I had both of my showers this week (work and mom's). I got SO much stuff!! I have enough bibs, rags and blankets to take care of Logan for probably the first 3 years of his life! It was so great to get to see everyone and to get out of the house for a few hours. I was exhausted and swollen by the time I got home, but everything was well worth it. I got so many cute clothes and so many useful items!! The big things we got were our stroller/car seat combo, monitor, motions glider, swing and Babybjorn carrier. We got so many other things that they barely fit in the baby room. The closet is full and we have filled every nook and cranny in the room with things like spoons, pacifiers, bottles, books, dvd's, sheets, mattress pads, burp cloths, etc. It was wonderful!!!!!! Thank you to EVERYONE. I had a great time!!

32 Weeks

The last week has been awesome. We left for Destin on Thursday. My feet were so swollen after the 6 hour drive. We had to stop about every 45 mins to an hour for me to go to the bathroom. It was pretty tiresome. We got in at about 2:30am EST. That started the weekend off. Friday was fun. I rode in the golf cart while everyone played golf. The weather was sort of overcast and windy so there was no beach that day. Saturday we drove down to Perdido Bay (about 2 hr drive) to see Ben's family and grandparents. We spent the day there and enjoyed a 40th anniversary dinner with his grandparents. Sunday we watched some of the senior golf tournament and then went to the pool for a little while. It was really windy so we were being pelted with sand. We slept in on Monday and headed back around 12. I really enjoyed the trip away, but it is too exhausting to go out of town when you are this far along. I will remember that next time.

This week is a BIG week. Today I got my crib bedding set in the mail from the Martin's. It is SO adorable! Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment in the morning and then my work shower after work tomorrow. This weekend is the shower at my mom's. I can not wait!!! I will update with pictures as soon as I have some!

31 Weeks

I cannot believe how time flies! We went to the hospital tour yesterday. It was so awesome. The room where I will have him is so huge. I have a feeling I will probably not want to leave. It is so cozy. I just kept thinking about how I will be in that room sometime in the next 8 weeks and it was a little overwhelming and exciting all at the same time. The next few weeks are going to fly by also. We leave for Destin on Thursday, come back on the 4th; work shower on the 6th; home shower on the 9th; childbirth class on the 16th; couples shower on the 23rd and then I am home free to wait for Kristin to have William and me to have Logan.

I think we finally have the childcare situation figured out and with the combination of Grandma McCracken, Grandma Thornton, Daddy Ben and 2 days of daycare a week, Logan will be well taken care of and have LOTS of fun. The only BIG thing we have left to do is pick a pediatrician. I have the list of recommendations from my doctor and the list from my insurance so I have to get to work on that.

By the way - we went on Thursday to have some 3D pictures taken of him and we couldn't. He is in the breach position right now and my placenta was covering his face. Go figure...my kid is being camera shy. The tech lady said he still ahs time to turn around, but we will see. There was a LOT of movement this weekend so maybe he turned around. My moms friend Linda made a perfect analogy:
"Typical guy, he doesn't know his head from his rear. We all know a girl would be head down, ready to go!" Ha ha I have another appointment on the 6th when I come back from Destin so I will let the doctor know and give an update. The good thing about "attempting" the 3D ultrasound was that we got to see Logan in 2D. We saw his little face and it looked adorable. It was really quick glimpses, but at least I accomplished what I really wanted which was to see him.

We should have a contract on the new house when we come back from Destin on the 4th, which means we have to get busy putting our house on the market. I have already started de-cluttering, but I have to do it in spurts because my feet start swelling like crazy. I am currently laid up in the bed with my feet elevated as often as possible (not as much as Ben would like, but I am getting used to the fact that they are going to hurt more and more the closer I get to the due date if I don't stop and rest more often.)

I have a feeling Logan will be just like his daddy...

30 Weeks

(10 weeks to go!) The last two weeks have been fun, exciting and tiring all rolled into one. Ben and I went to Birmingham last weekend and had a great time. We got to see a lot of the family that we hadn't seen since the wedding. I had a shower on Saturday at a cafe in downtown in Birmingham and had such a great time. I got a lot of cute clothes and some other random cutie pie things that I already found places for in the nursery! Ben got to go play golf and had a great day also. I guess he needs to practice up since we want little Logan to play golf!! We hung out with the family all day on Saturday and headed back to Atlanta on Sunday. It was a great weekend!

This weekend I went to Savannah with Holly and Ansley to see Julie before she births baby boy Jordan in the near future. We had our own little shower for her Friday night and she really enjoyed it. We saw Tesh over the weekend and it seemed like old times. We were just missing coach. We drove around and looked at all of the changes at school and the changes they made to our softball field. It was great to be back in town. I think Ansley may rethink having kids after having spent the whole weekend with 3 pregnant women. I think we were all well behaved though. No crankiness. No whining. No crying. It was great! LOL I will post pictures this week! They are great!

On my way back to Atlanta I stopped to see Kristin. We both look forward to spending next weekend relaxing by the pool. Her nursery is adorable as I expected. I hadn't seen it since it was finished. Her belly is definitely starting to grow and poke out a little more in just 3 weeks. She is extremely tired these days as am I. I go to the doctor on Tuesday and have several questions for him. I guess the closer I get to my due date, the more I think about a lot of different things.

28 Weeks

All I can say right now is: EXHAUSTION! It hit me about last Wednesday and it literally has knocked me on my caboose. Thursday I went to the doctor because I was so tired and having a hard time catching a good breath. Everything was fine and she said I just needed to rest. Saturday was Kristin's shower which was a BLAST. I had such a good time and she got so many good gifts including her stroller. I can't wait for our little boys to get here so they can play together. Her mom got us matching Braves outfits for the boys. It is going to be so cute! While we were there, I met the neighbor pet:

It was the coolest thing ever. A completely white horse. As you can see I was like a kid in the candy store. I got to feed him apples and everything.
Later that day I went to my parents and played with my 3 year old cousin Parker. She wore me out, but I lvoed every minute of it!
Today was my regular doctor's appointment and everything was GREAT! I only gained 1 pound which is great. I have only gained 17 pounds total so far. I know the next 11 weeks are the true weight gain test so we will see how they go. I go back in 2 weeks and then every 2 weeks after that until I hit 26 weeks.
EXCITING!!!!!!!
AND this weekend is my very first Baby Shower in Birmingham, AL. I can not wait. The time seems to be flying by now that I have entered May. This is what I thought about today:
Only 2.5 months to go until July 29th.
Only 11 weeks to go until July 29th.
Only 53 days of work left until July 29th (if I go full term.)
The simplest things make me happy and make this time go by so much faster!!!!!! I LOVE IT!

26 Weeks

Everything is going GREAT! I passed my gestational diabetes test (which I was a little worried about) so that was the best news. All of the little milestones are coming up so the next 2 months are about to FLY by! We have something every weekend and I am so excited!
My feet are still swelling off and on, but they say it will probably last thru the pregnancy. I have been EXTREMELY tired this week. I hope it doesn't stay like this. I am just so exhausted. I thought I would have at least a few more weeks of energy before I fell off the happy train, but I guess not.
We are in the process of hopefully starting the building on a new house for us and Logan. It will give us a lot more room (and some room to grow)! We will know if it is final in about a week or two. I will keep you posted. If it happens, be sure there will be progressive building pictures at some point!
Love you all!

25 Weeks

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!! Especially because Kristin's next appt is in THREE weeks instead of FOUR and Julie is due in 60 days!!! That means we are getting closer because the appointments get closer together!!!!

This week in Baton Rouge was VERY exhausting and difficult. I can't believe that I thought that I would be able to get thru this week without any problems being 6 months pregnant. Let's just say that I am glad to be back home and done with that trip!

Next on the agenda is Kristin's shower and then my shower in Birmingham!!!! I am so excited to see everyone and to see Tonya (Ben's cousin Chris's wife). She is about 20 weeks pregnant right now with a little girl. I am so excited for them and so happy that we will have little cousins around the same age soon!

I have an appointment on Tuesday for the Glucose test. Wish me luck. I have a bad feeling that it is going to be bad results, but hopefully not. I have had a LOT of swelling lately so I hope there is no relation.

More later!

24 Weeks

Well 6 months down..only 4 more to go!!! As you can see we have named our little boy. I can't wait to meet little Logan! It's crazy to think that in about 16 weeks we will be able to meet him. Even crazier than that is the fact that if mine is that close, Kristin and Julie's due date is that much closer. WOW! I have been feeling pretty good lately. I have my ups and downs. Mostly it's being tired that gets me down. I am feeling him kick a LOT lately. He seems to like sitting very low in my belly. I occasionally feel him around my belly button, but for the most part he stays low. Ben has felt him a few times, but his kicks aren't strong enough to be felt consistently.

Ben is having MORE pregnancy symptoms than me. He gets hungry at ALL hours of the day and he gets VERY cranky if he can't find anything to eat. Surprisingly I am not too hungry. I eat small meals throughout the day and Ben doesn't understand when I am not STARVING. It's pretty funny.

We got a rocking recliner today and I absolutely LOVE it. It's microfiber like our couches and it so comfortable! I figure I will use it a LOT more than a wooden rocking chair.

I leave Sunday for Baton Rouge, LA for work for the week. I am very excited, but ready for it to be over already. I have some inventory inspections to do and then I am going to try to fit in some casino time.

Update next week......

20 Weeks & 5 Days

Well, the last 2 weeks haven't seen many changes except my belly size. I feel like I am getting bigger every day. The weather is starting to scare me a little bit. The fact that it is already supposed to reach 85 degrees this weekend makes me wonder how hot it's going to be in May/June. Hopefully it's just a heat wave right now. I love it right now, but give it a few months and I am SURE I will hate it. I see two sides to this.......BAD - It will be hot from now until I have the baby and I can't stand to be hot.......GOOD - the pool will get warm quicker!!!

20 Weeks

20 weeks - - HALF WAY! This week has been pretty good after I got to feeling better about half way through the week. I got back in town on Friday and seem to have a lot of energy. Saturday was a really busy day for me. I cleaned a lot of things out of the house and took them to Goodwill (made room for the crib)! Then I made dinner for Ben and I and then we put the crib together. It is so darn cute! Well only 1 more day until we find out what the sex is!!!!!!!! I will let everyone know as soon as I get around a computer! Ben and I are off on Tuesday so we plan to go add stuff to the registry. Now that the crib is up I want the bedding in it!!!!!!!! I posted a picture of the crib. SOOOO CUTE! The belly hasn't changed much from 18 weeks so I am going to wait until next week to post another picture.

19 Weeks & 1 Day

I am 19 weeks and 1 day. What a wonderfully craptastic week last week was! Where do I start...Ben was sick with a flu bug on Monday so I stayed as far away from him as I could so that I wouldn't get it. I went to my parents to spend the night Monday while his mom stayed at our house and took care of him. Tuesday Ben's parents, Katrina and myself went to the Justin Timberlake concert since Ben could not go. It was AWESOME! After the concert my left foot was swollen like a cabbage patch kids hand (a blown up doctors glove) if you will. Not both, just the one! So Wednesday I went to the doctor and she said it looked ok, but sent me to have an ultrasound on my leg to check for blood clots. Luckily they didn't find any and I was told to just watch it and make sure it doesn't get any worse. It went down by Thursday and all was good. We went to eat dinner on Friday night with Bens parents for his dads birthday. We came home and everything was great. I went to sleep around 9 and awaited a beautiful Saturday. Then all hell broke loose. I woke up at about 100am with a really weird sour stomach feeling. I started throwing up at about 130 and began the LONGEST stretch of puking I have ever had in my life. By 8am I still had not stopped so we went to the doctor...this is after TWO calls to the OBGYN in the middle of the night to ask what I was supposed to do. I was throwing up in the parking lot until they could see me at about 830. They had to give me TWO of the No-Puke shots to get me to stop. I went home around 1030 and felt good enough to go to sleep. I drank and drank and drank...NOT a good idea. Around 2pm I started all over again. This lasted until about 430 Saturday until I finally fell asleep and started sleeping everything off. I left for North Carolina for work on Sunday. Last week SUCKED!!!! Only 7 days until we find out what the baby is though!!!!!! Good Night!

17 Weeks & 2 Days

Today we had our appointment. I am 17 weeks and 2 days right now. Everything is going great!!! I got some antibiotics to try to take care of some sinus problems I have been having.

The heart rate was really good in the 150's. The baby was moving around so it took the woman a few minutes to catch up to him/her! That was exciting for me because the baby has not had much movement ever. The doc told me I should start feeling the baby by the next appointment.

Speaking of next appt......MARCH 13th is the BIG day!!! We find out if it is a boy or girl!!!!!!!! I can not wait! 3 weeks from today!!!!!!!!!! I will definitely keep posting!

4 Months

4 MONTHS DOWN - - 6 MORE TO GO! I am 16 weeks and starting to feel a little better. I have had some really bad upper back problems the last week or two. Once I can get over this, I think I will be doing GREAT! Our next appointment is Feb. 20th. I will be 17 weeks and 2 days when we go so I won't be finding out the sex until the next appointment. I am so anxious to find out the sex. I was told that there are tests they take between 19-20 weeks and that's when they check for the sex so I am hoping that I will have to go back 2-3 weeks later rather than wait 4 more weeks. We will see!!!! I am so ready to finish picking things out for the little bundle of joy. I am really starting to have the "pregnant" feeling. I can't feel the baby moving yet or anything, but I can tell that there is something in there. It's a very weird feeling. You don't want to move weird or sneeze or cough because you are afraid of hurting it or myself. Everytime I sneeze I feel like I pull a muscle. It's crazy and I have been told that it just gets worse so I am trying to prepare myself to be scared to move. I am a paranoid person as it is and now I have to care for myself and something inside of me and it's an awesome, but scary feeling. Well I will update after the doctor appointment next week! Maybe luck will present itself and the doctor will want to do an ultrasound. We haven't seen the baby since Dec. 27th. It's really weird to know something is growing and to hear its heartbeat, but not be able to see it!!!!

14 Weeks

I am 14 weeks today!
We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time on Wednesday. It was so awesome. Strong heartbeat at 160 per minute. There are many old wives tales and studies that make this fun: "if the baby's heart rate is 140 bpm or above, it is a girl. Below 140 bpm, it is a boy." Chinese Gender Chart says: It's a boy! (Chinese Age 28 at Lunar month 9) Old Wives Tales: You have a 43% chance of having a boy. And you have a 56% chance of having a girl. * My feet are colder now than before pregnancy, so it will be a BOY * My mom doesn't have gray hair, so it will be a GIRL * I had morning sickness, so it will be a GIRL * I'm not looking particularly good so it will be a GIRL (girl's steal a mother's looks) * I'm craving sweets as opposed to salty, so it will be a GIRL

11 Weeks & 3 Days

I am 11 weeks and 3 days so far. Almost to that 3 month mark. Woo hoo I have been feeling better lately, but really tired. Peanut has definitely taken a toll on me and my body. I feel like I am starting to show a little early. I think in reality it is just my fatty belly being pushed out by the baby bump. Somewhere under these layers is a baby! =)

It feels like it is hardening a "little" bit. It (my belly that is) feels different, that's all I know. I have a doctor appt on January 24th for us to hear the heartbeat. I can't wait for that. This last month has been a little traumatic. I have been sick, tired and most recently (yesterday) I had to have an emergency root canal. I feel a lot better now and hopefully I can get a full night of sleep tonight (something I haven't had in 3 days).
