Months old already! So much is going on all of the sudden. Saturday
Logan decided he wanted to start "scooting" on his stomach. It is the
cutest thing. He pulls with his arms and kicks with his toes until he
gets to what he wants. He still hasn't moved his belly off the floor.
Sometimes he will sit and rock on all fours when he is going from
sitting to crawling position. He also has finally learned to sit himself
up. The bad thing is that he does it in his crib and he doesn't want to
lay back down. For every good thing there is 1 or 2 "bad" things. We
are finishing antibiotics for our FOURTH ear infection. We started
Claritin last week and by this weekend he was not sleeping; literally
NOT sleeping. No naps, not sleeping at night. So I stopped the Claritin.
Like I said for every one "trial", we end up with 1 or 2 other
problems. We are going to start some multi vitamins and possibly some
echinacea to see if we can help boost his immune system without the
constant trial of new meds and antibiotics.
So we had our 9 month check up today. He is currently 24.5 lbs, 30.5 inches long and 18.9 head circumference. He falls in the 90 something percentile on everything. He is growing like a weed. The doctor was very pleased with his size. His ear infections are "gone", but he still has fluid in his ears. I am contemplating taking him to an ENT. Any thoughts, please email me. I asked what is execessive for ear infections and he said 8 in a year...so we have had 4 in 4 months??? Doesn't that say something? Who knows. I want the fluid OUT of his ears. I bet he will be able to hear so much more clear when he doesn't have any more issues with his ears.
We also talked about trying him on regular formula again. As most of you know we had several issues with his formula when he was born and went thru 5 kinds before we determined he was allergic to milk and soy proteins and he has been on a special formula called Elecare ever since. He said that we can start trying Nutramagen or Alimentum now. He should have outgrown that allergy by now. He said to still keep from giving any dairy products (yogurt, ice cream, etc until he is at least a year old. So sometime this week we will start trying the "cheaper" formula finally. Keep your fingers crossed that he does good on it. He said we will work our way down the chain (Nutramagen/Alimentum then Good Start, etc.) Hopefully he will not be on formula for too much longer. He is eating so good that sometimes he only drinks about 18-20 oz a day. His bottles are the equivalent of about 22 oz but he rarely finishes the afternoon or dinner bottles. I think we may start backing off of a day bottle soon to see how he does. He still needs his morning and bed time bottle, but I think he may do ok without one of the day bottles. He drinks a lot of juice/water during the day. His menu has grown also. Although he is not a fan of the foods with beef in them, he eats turkey mixtures pretty well. He loves pretty much all of the vegetables and fruits. As for solid foods, he eats cherrios, star puffs, sliced carrots in the can, sometimes he eats bananas, peaches and pears. He still does NOT like peas. We have tried them several times and the sweet peas in the can. He will eat the tomato tidbits at a restaurant and LOVES limes and lemons for some reason. He LOVES drinking out of a straw, but doesnt know how to hold the cup with the straw yet. He does great with his sippy cup although I think more of the juice ends up on him than in his mouth. He talks a lot now....its more babling than anything but we occasionally have a dadada mamamam babababab. We are trying to teach him sign language. He knows milk, juice and eat. Its pretty amazing. He is starting to mimmick me. If I say "touch the sky" and hold my arms up he will do the same. We are trying to teach him to clap now. He is still not pulling up on things yet, but I am totally ok with that right now. I need to child proof a lot more before he starts doing that. He may be walking if he ever figures out how to pull himself up.
Well that is what is going on with us right now. Love you all!
