LT's Kindergarten Orientation

I can not believe my baby is starting Kindergarten in 2 days. This morning felt like a big blur. We got up early and took JC to daycare, then we went and waited in line in front of the school to be one of the first in to find out his teacher and get a feel for the school. I absolutely love AE already and he hasn't even started yet. Mimi came up and met us with Princess B.

When they opened the doors it was a bit of chaos. We went down the hallway that had this beautiful woodsy mural on either side. Then we went to sign up for PTA (because I honestly can say that I have been waiting a long time to be part of the PTA). His teacher's name is Mrs. S and there is a para pro named Mrs. C. They seem very nice and LT was taking in all the sights and sounds. He seems so much older having just gone to orientation. I took him out to the playground for a few minutes and then we left. She gave us this bag of confetti with the coolest poem I have ever read:

Ready Confetti
The night before school is exciting and fun.
There are always so many things to be done.
Your clothes are ready, your backpack is too.
Your classroom is full of smart things you will do.
There are so many questions that go through your mind,
all types of thoughts of every kind.
But sometimes we all get the jitters down deep,
and that makes it hard to fall fast asleep.
So I've made you some magic confetti, it's really quite cool.
It will help you be rested and ready for school.
Just sprinkle the confetti under your pillow in bed
on the night before school starts where you lay down your head.
The confetti will help you sleep through the night,
and you will wake up in the morning fresh & bright.
I'll sprinkle confetti under my pillow too,
and remember: I can't wait for school so I can see you!

April 17,2009 - Happy Birthday JC

JC made his entrance into the world Friday afternoon at 2:36pm. he is almost the same size as LT at 7lb 14oz, 21.25" long and 14.25" head. He has dark hair all over his head and looks different than Logan (I think). He is adorable and so far is doing great with breastfeeding.

Everything went great yesterday  and after 3 epidurals the surgery went quick and easy. We collected cord blood from the umbilical cord to bank in the case that we ever need it for any life saving illness thru VIACORD. I also donated my placenta to a company that is using them in eye surgeries and other surgeries. They already take it out anyways so I figured it was a good donation.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.

April 2009 - Hospital Trial Run

4/13/09 - I just wanted to give one last updated post before baby JC makes his arrival on Friday.

LT had a great Easter! We went to church and he was so excited about the choir singing. He kept clapping and standing up. He started feeling bad that afternoon, but at least he had a good half day of feeling good!

We are battling a very bad sinus infection with LT right now. We went BACK to the doctor today and he gave him a 3-day antibiotic to hopefully knock it out before surgery on Friday.I hate it for LT because he is absolutely miserable. He woke up with his eyes pussed together this morning. The sinus infection moved into his eyes and his right ear has another infection. it's a pretty bad overall infection this time. I just hope it clears up quickly. It's doing a number on both me and Daddy. Daddy has been getting up with him at night because in about 4 days I will not be able to pick him up for a while. He is having a hard time adjusting to daddy comfort. He is so used to mommy comfort. Luckily last night he slept good all night, but then again he did not nap yesterday. Today he felt so bad that he took two naps. He is on an antibiotic, benadryl and tylenol/motrin because he has been running a fever. I hope since it is a 3-day antibiotic that he will feel a lot better in the morning.

As for JC - I am completely ready for him to get out! I am uncomfortable and exhausted and tired of being both at the same time. Plus it makes it really hard with LT being sick to not be able to really hold and comfort him like I normally would due to the gigantic belly protruding! We will post pictures as soon as we possibly can on Friday/Saturday.

WISH US LUCK AND A QUICK C-SECTION RECOVERY! We can't wait to see our new little man!

4/1/09 Glad to be home from the hospital. I came down with a bad case of the flu bug Monday night and as of 130 Tuesday could still not keep fluids down. Had to go to L&D for fluids and monitoring. I was contracting every 3 minutes, but it was due to the low fluids. Two bags of fluid, lots of monitoring and a couple of small meals and I got back home today around 100pm. I am considering it my trial run since there are only 17 days left!!!!!!! LT had a hard time tonight - I think a little separation anxiety since he went to bed Monday night and didn't see me again until tonight. =( Poor little guy. I missed him so much!!

March 2009

Well I have fallen a bit behind on my updates. Everyone is doing great. Logan is getting to be such a big boy lately. He THINKS he is older than mommy, but mommy has to remind him every once in a while that that is not the case. All in all he is a pretty good boy. I don't think he realizes or understands that there will be another baby in about 4 weeks, but he is excited none the less. He says "Jasthen" for Jaxon and he smiles really big when you ask if he is excited to have a brother. He knows where his room is and knows to point to my belly when someone asks him where Jaxon is. Again, I still don't think he really  understands, but we will see. I think he may surprise us all. He is a pretty smart kid.

He has been doing great in daycare. We have him in 2 days a week right now so I can spend more time with him before Jaxon interrupts his life. He is definitely a handful and my mom has been a HUGE help! We try to get him out to play at the playground or an indoor gym at least once or twice a week. I of course sit by on a couch or chair and take pictures while everyone else gets to play with him, but at least I am there.

As far as the pregnancy - it has been really good other than the occasional high bp issues. It has started spiking back up recently with no change in activity or eating habits so the doctors are watching it. I started swelling last week which caught me off guard and I have been having a lot of Braxton contractions. Luckily I go to the doctor twice a week now so they have a pretty good eye on me. They did some blood work on Friday to make sure everything was still doing ok since my bp has been up and I am swelling. Plus Jaxon was moving 'great' for me, but not good enough for the doctor so she said the blood results will be in on Monday and I would be called if I needed to come in earlier than my scheduled Friday appointment. We shall see.

Like I said - all is well and I am getting very anxious about seeing my new little man. They still say he has a lot of hair. I saw it on the ultrasounds. I will believe it when I see it.

Hopefully there will be another update before the 17th, but in case not - please keep us in your prayers that everything goes well with the c-section!

Love you all!

February 2009

Logan had his 18 month ckeck up today and it went great! He is weighing in at 30.1 lbs and 35.5" tall. Yes my 18 month old son is almost half as tall as his daddy. Crazy! Everything was great. He got his Hep A immunization shot. We are holding out on the MMR until his 2 year appt. I am going to hold off on so many shots with the new baby. I want to spread them out a little and limit to one needle prick per visit. I just don't believe he needs so many before he is 6 months old.

I had an OB appointment yesterday and everything looking good and was measuring fine. We scheduled the C-Section!!! You can email me if you want details. I don't want to put them on the site.

Hope all is well with everyone and Logan says "bye"!

January 2009

WOW - I had no idea it had been THIS long since I last updated. Goodness. I am sorry. Logan is doing great. A few words here and there. I think he is going to skip the single words and go straight to sentences. I can say with certainty that he has the following words in his vocabulary (that I can understand - some people may not): down, tree, moon, there, keys, dog, daddy (still no mama or mommy), papa (sort of), uh oh & bye bye. There may be a few more, but I think that is pretty much all of them. He babbles a LOT and tries really hard to tell you a LOT, but it's in another language I think. ha. We took him off dairy (mostly) in December to see if it helped with his congestion. I also started him on Claritin. Surprisingly against my thoughts, he has done pretty good (knock on wood) for about 4 weeks. He had a little bit of a runny nose for about a week that never really manifested into anything big, but that is about it. Kids will get runny noses - I just don't want him to be congested all the time. We do the claritin often, but I try not to do it every day. It is so cold here right now that I doubt it would hurt to skip a few days. I think in the spring we will have someone come clean the carpets (maybe before the baby gets here). Hopefully that will help too.

"Baby T" as we have affectionately started calling him is doing good. Growing big and kicking me hard! Less than 12 weeks to go until D-Day! I have been having some blood pressure issues again this time and swelling so the doctor is taking me out of work again. Wednesday or Thursday will be my last day for a while. We tried BP meds, but they counter acted and made my BP bottom out so we are going to eliminate the "stress" of work and see if it helps. My BP is usually highest during the week anyways and fairly normal on the weekend when I am resting and playing with Logan. We have the baby room all painted and can not wait to get everything setup. I will post pictures (a lot of them) very shortly. I looked back at the pics and it has definitely been a while since I posted.
Logan had a GREAT BIG Christmas! He got lots of toys and clothes and it was so much more fun with him this year. He loved opening presents. We loved watching him.
He is enjoying daycare and loves being with his friends. He has gotten into a pretty good routine up there. It makes our days at home a lot easier too.
Well I go see the dr on Thursday to schedule the c-section and do my gestational diabetes test. Then on Monday the 26th I go for more ultrasounds so I will update sometime after that with some new pics. The last few pics have not been that great.

November 2008 - Starting Daycare

11/26/08 - Well so much to tell......Logan had his 15 month check up last Wednesday and everything was great. He is 28.5 lbs and 34" tall. He is going to be a GREAT quarterback! He is doing great in school and seems to finally like going. He actually waved BYE to me on Monday. I don't think he realized what he was doing because when I turned to leave he started crying a little, but STILL he waved at me. He has been so much fun lately. We went to Birmingham this weekend for Thanksgiving and he had a blast. He did great and got to play with cousin Molly a lot. They were really funny to watch.

Today I am 18 weeks and 5 days and we had an ultrasound today. Everything looked fine and it seems that the baby still has a pee pee so we are fairly certain that it is definitely another BOY! I guess I still had a little hope that we mis-diagnosed the ultrasound last time. I am happy though. A lot less stress knowing how to deal with a boy a second time around.

Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I will post some more pictures when I have some, but for now we have 2 new (kind of blurry) ultrasound pictures to post.

11/12/08 - Logan is finally starting to get better. After he got over hand, mouth and foot he came down with a really bad cold and YES another ear infection. He has been on antibiotics for the past 3 days and like I said, is FINALLY doing better. He is starting to 'like' daycare I think. He doesnt do great when mommy leaves yet, but we are getting better. He took an hour and a half nap today. That is HUGE! He hasn't taken over a 45 minute nap since he started. He was in such a better mood when he came home tonight. We ate chicken tenders and french fries on the way home and he was happy. Mommy is still trying to kick her cold that she got FROM Logan, but being pregnant makes it a little more difficult. Hopefully it will go away soon!!!!

11/2/08 - I can not believe it is already November. Everyone is doing good (now). Logan started daycare two weeks ago and after 3 days he came down with Hand, Mouth and Foot. Unbelievable. It is the worst thing we have dealt with so far!! He is a LOT better now. Other than a healing nose/forehead where he decided to face plant on the concrete and a stuffy nose and ear drainage - we are doing just great. Ha Baby #2 is doing good. I heard the heartbeat on Thursday and am starting to finally show even though I have not gained a pound (actually lost 1). YAY me! We are still having problems thinking of a name and will have another ultrasound right before Thanksgiving. Maybe we are having a hard time with a boy name because it is really a girl. Who knows!!
Halloween was a lot of fun this year. Logan went trick or treating to a few houses in his elephant costume. Grammy said he was the smallest Republican. Daddy said ROLL TIDE. Either way - everyone was happy! Well sorry for the long delay in updates and pictures. We will try to do better going forward!

October 2008 - Another BOY!

10/17/08 - Well we had an ultrasound today called an NTS. It's to check for possibilities of abnormalities (chromosome disorders etc.). They test went fine. They do it in coordination with blood tests and I should have the results by next Friday. Preliminary results looked good and normal.

On another note - we were able to find out the sex! I am only 13 weeks, but I have heard of several people that found out. So drum rolllllllll...IT'S ANOTHER BOY! I am still in a bit of shock. I was SURE it was a girl. It has kind of settled in now and I am pretty excited. Think of the money I will save in the long run....no wedding dresses...no prom dresses.....no makeup....no nail appts or tanning salons......no short skirts....or periods.......it's starting to look very positive for having 2 boys!! LOL

Logan is kicking butt walking now. He picked it up and mastered it very quickly! He stands up by himself now without having to pull up on something. It's pretty cool to watch him!!!

10/3/08 - Logan had a long day today, but he did GREAT with the tubes surgery. We were up at 630 this morning and at the Dr office by 700am. Logan did a lot better than I thought he would with not being able to eat or drink. All the nurses and grandparents kept him pretty pre-occupied. The Dr came in and told us about the surgery and how quick it would go. He left my arms at 825 and was back in my arms at 840. It was VERY quick. He did great!!! He was really fussy and disoriented when we went to recovery with him, but FOOD seemed to make that all better. LOL The nurse was laughing at him because he wasn't supposed to eat too much in case he got sick, but it was ALL he wanted was to eat and drink. Once we got home he took a 2 hour nap after he played. Our schedule has been really off today, but he was such a big boy! I am so proud of him. Now we have to use ear plugs with any water for the next 9-12 months depending on how long the tubes stay in his ears. Hopefully this is our one and only time to have to get tubes. We go back for a follow up in 2 weeks. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers for little Logan.

We went yesterday and heard the hearbeat of the new baby. It is so comforting to hear that! I go back in 2 weeks for a new ultrasound that they do between 12-13 weeks. I can not wait to see my baby!!!!

September 2008 - First Steps

9/29/08 - Logan took about 4 steps without holding my hand last night, but he thought I was holding his back so I didn't count it as his FIRST steps. Today however, he woke up and decided he wanted to WALK! He walked all over Grammy's house today. He was so tired by tonight. He didn't nap very well today plus we had his pre-op appts at the doctor's office today which thru his schedule off a little bit. So we are on to our next milestone....talking.........until then we will work on perfecting walking!

9/19/08 - All is well. I have been really bad about updating pictures. I promise I will add some soon. News: Logan is getting tubes in his ears on October 3rd. Finally!!! I think they will help him not be so sick so much. He is getting so big and vocal. Not talking or really saying words but he makes his presence known and let's you know when you are not doing what he wants you to do. He has finally started pushing a car toy around so we are hopefully close to walking. HOPEFULLY. As for #2 - she/he is making me sick sick sick. It sucks. I have been sick for about 4 weeks now. Crazy! I have good days in between though so that helps. I really want to enjoy this time with Logan before a newbie comes in, but I keep feeling poopy. Tomorrow I am taking him to one of the North Georgia Orchards to pick apples, pet the animals and possibly ride the pony. We will see!!!! I will update after.......

9/4/08 - We went for our 1st ultrasound today and it went well. We saw the baby and we saw the heart flickering. They didn't check to hear it today because it is still a little early to actually be able to hear it, but we did see it. It was awesome. All I kept saying was " I can not believe I am back in this room again already."

Logan is doing good. We have had a rough couple of weeks. We started him in 2 days of daycare about 3 weeks ago and he got sick the weekend after his FIRST week. He has been sick since then and ended up with ear infections in both ears. We had him on antibiotics since last Friday and took him back to the doctor on Wednesday because he was not getting any better. They found that he still had really bad infections and a bubble on his ear. It is called Myringitis Bullous. It's a bacterial infection. We had to put him on a high dose antibiotic and we are taking him to the ENT on Monday. He is doing a lot better today and will hopefully sleep better tonight. I will keep you updated on his progress.

August 2008 - Baby #2 on the way!

8/19/08 - BIG NEWS!!!!!! In about 9 months this website will be named Logan Thornton and "Baby yet to be named" Thornton. That's right Logan will be a big brother at the ripe old age of 21 months. HA. Obviously we are hoping for a girl, but just want a healthy baby! I am almost 5 weeks so very early still. We have our first dr appt Sept 9th. By my calculation as long as everything goes well, we should be finding out the sex around Thanksgiving. We are ecstatic, scared, nervous, stressed about everything! We wanted our children to be close in age, I guess we just didn't expect it to happen SOOO quickly. The calculated due date is April 24, 2009. We will have a c-section so it will be about 10 days earlier than that. Wish us luck!!!!

Logan went to his first full day of day care today. He did remarkably well considering it was his first full day. He cried like crazy when I left and when I returned, but she said that he actually did fairly well. He even took about an hour nap!!! I know once he gets used to it he will sleep better, eat better and play better and HOPEFULLY learn to start walking!

Hope everyone is doing well and we love you all!!!!

8/6/08 - It's almost time for football season!!!!! FINALLY!!! Logan has a little red and black football that he will find on comand if you say "where is your football?" It's awesome!!! He is doing a lot better than he was a week ago. He started out having what we thought were really bad separation anxiety issues, but it might have been a combination of a few things. He now has 2 teeth on the bottom (they are so cute). He ran a high fever all weekend and took him to the doctor on Monday and found out that he probably is allergic to the milk that we started him on a week ago which contributed to congestion and an ear infection and the fever. Now he is on decongestant and antibiotics and Soy milk. Hopefully this will help! He has been sleeping a lot better the last 2 days. He slept HORRIBLY this weekend and was on Motrin/Tylenol every 3 hours to keep his fever down. Like I said, hopefully we are in the clear now and he will continue to improve. He made the change to soy fairly easily. We still mix in water and formula. We will start phasing it out once he has been on the soy/formula combo for a little bit.
Well - gotta go for now. I will have more pictures soon!

July 2008 - Logan's 1st Birthday

7/23/08 - We went for our 1 year check up today. Everything went great! The doctor has suggested that Logan play football! LOL His stats: 26.59 lbs (90%), 32.36" (97%), 19.29 Head Circumference (97%). Needless to say he is a big boy growing like a weed. I also noticed that the 2nd tooth is about to poke thru on the bottom. He had his vaccines today so hopefully he will do well with them!!! We will see.

7/20/08 - Logan had a GREAT birthday! He napped good in the morning which was key! He got lots of presents including several push and ride toys, lots of clothes, laptop from mommy and daddy, all kids of Mickey stuff, a Mickey lounge chair, a whole bunch of toys big and small and a new table to stand and play. He had a great time and enjoyed eating his cake. It took him a little while. He kept looking at me as if to say "do you really want me to stick my hands in that?" It was hilarious and he was an absolute mess. We let him go in the pool afterwards to wear off the sugar high. He slept until 6pm (alomost 2.5 hours). He slept great last night too! He was a tired little boy. Thank you for all the gifts and for being a part of Logan's 1st birthday! I still can't believe that a year ago he was 3 days old right now. WOW amazing!

7/17/08 - WE MADE IT!!!!!! I can honestly not believe it! And guess what - before his 1st birthday he decided to push thru a TOOTH!!!!!!!! Saturday night was very LONG and then Sunday evening I noticed a little point sticking out of his gums on the bottom. I think actually is in the process of pushing one more possibly two thru. It's so cute. He won't let us stick our finger in his mouth very often so we have to catch glimpses of it when he is talking or chewing on something. I am so proud of him. Next is walking!!!! I think we are getting close, but he does not have the confidence yet. He is a very careful and analytical little boy. He thinks about his every move. It's hilarious. We have his birthday on Saturday. I can not wait!!!!!! More updates to come.....

7/8/08 - I cannot believe that in 9 days Logan will be 1 year old! It is amazing how time flies. I never thought we would get to this month about 9 months ago! Logan is doing so good and just got to go visit Will for his 1st birthday party! He had a lot of fun and behaved very well. WIll got lots of new toys and loved his birthday cake.

I will post more after his birthday with lots of pictures!!!! Just wanted to say hello to everyone and Happy 4th of July.

June 2008 - He's crawling

6/27/08 - It has been quite a while since I updated. I apologize. We have had a lot going on lately. Logan is now a whopping 26 lbs and growing like a weed. He is not walking yet, but I expect in the next month maybe he will become brave enough. Every once in a while he will grab a toy off the table and let go to hold it with 2 hands and realize very quickly that he is not holding on to anything. He is becoming very independant. I think we are already starting the terrible two's and he isn't even one yet! He definitely knows what NO means, but despises the word and throws some sever tantrums in the process. He is eating a lot of different things now even though he doesn't have a single tooth. We have a couple of bubbles on the bottom so hopefully in the next 6 months a tooth will pop thru.
We have had about 7-8 ear infections and finally took him to an ENT yesterday and luckily his ears looked good and the doctor did not recommend ear tubes! He had a horrible fever for about 3 days this week so I think there was something more than his ears involved since he never has had a fever with his infections before. We started him on Amoxicillin and as of today we found out he is allergic to it. So now we have a little boy covered in hives and rashes. He is taking Benadryl and just had his first Aveeno bath. The poor thing has the hives all on his head so he continuously rubs and scratches his head. Hopefully it will disappear in a few days. Luckily the fever is gone. I feel so bad for him. THis has been a bad week for him. On top of that he hasn't been eating much which I know is totally against his normal demeanor.

We are busy planning for his first birthday party which will be themed MICKEY MOUSE CLUBHOUSE! I am so excited. I never knew how hard it would be to pick out a 1st birthday present. It's definitely harder than finding 6 month Christmas presents! I even have him a Mickey Mouse t-shirt to wear. I will have lots more pictures after the party. I have some new ones now that I need to add to the site as soon as I have a chance. We love you all.

In loving memory of Dylan Gabriel Brooks:
I would like to gather all of your thoughts and prayers for two of my dearest friends. Katrina and Kristin's families need a lot of them right now.

Katrina's little boy Dylan was born 3 weeks early and had several issues, some that they were aware of some that they were not. Unfortunately little Dylan's little body was not fully equipped for the outside world and he was born 6/11/08 and passed into Heaven on 6/17/08. Katrina and Justin are doing well considering the circumstances, but could use all of your thoughts and prayers that you can send their way.

Also, Kristin (Will's mommy) found out about 3 weeks ago that she has breast cancer. She has already started chemo and is doing very well with it. The tumor is small and there is a very good outlook on the therapy. She will take 6-8 treatments and then depending on how her body reacts she will be scheduled for surgery to remove the tumor. Please send your thoughts and prayers to her family as well.

Thank you all!!!

6/5/08 - I have somehow forgotten to mention that Logan is finally fully crawling. He has been doing it for about 2 weeks now. He really started picking it up right before we went to the beach and now he pulls up, crawls and has even attempted the stairs a couple of times. Less than 2 months and he will be a year old!!!!

May 2008 - Logan's 1st beach trip

5/27/08 - Well we made it thru our beach weekend with few blunders. Logan did great on the drive down, for the most part. He didn't sleep well at night, but we found out today he has the beginning of new ear infections so hopefully that will clear up soon. He LOVED the pool, LIKED the beach and was OK with the sand. He loved watching the people and kids at the beach. We did a lot of walking around and staying up late, but all in all it was a great weekend!
His doctor appt today said he was 25 lb and 10 oz. WOW is all I have to say.
It is way past my bedtime. Please enjoy the pictures!
Love you all

5/17/08 - Logan is 10 months old!!! I can not believe that in 2 months he will be a year! Amazing how time flies. He is doing great: sleeping well, eating well and we have moved him back onto Similac Alimentum finally and he is doing Great! The doctor said we will work our way back down to regular formula and see how he does. So far so good! He is still scooting along. Every once in a while he brings his knees up or starts out on his knees for a few "scoots" and then figures he can get there faster by flopping on his belly and squirming with his arms. It's pretty funny to watch. He had his first Girl Scout Cookie today. He loves the teething biscuits and toast bars. Although he has NO SIGN of teeth yet. He is going to be like his mommy and hopefully have them by the time he is two! I didn't have my first tooth until I was 18 months old. Crazy! We are going to the beach for the first time for Memorial Weekend. I can't wait to see him playing in the sand and in the pool!
We went to see Will last weekend. That little turd is walking already. Started at 9 months. I guess I can thank the heavens that I don't have to run around and chase Logan yet! The boys had so much fun together and we can't wait to see everybody again!
I will have lots of pictures. Sorry I have been delayed on updating the pictures. Hopefully I can get a lot on here tonight. Love you all!

April 2008 - He is scooting

9 Months old already! So much is going on all of the sudden. Saturday Logan decided he wanted to start "scooting" on his stomach. It is the cutest thing. He pulls with his arms and kicks with his toes until he gets to what he wants. He still hasn't moved his belly off the floor. Sometimes he will sit and rock on all fours when he is going from sitting to crawling position. He also has finally learned to sit himself up. The bad thing is that he does it in his crib and he doesn't want to lay back down. For every good thing there is 1 or 2 "bad" things. We are finishing antibiotics for our FOURTH ear infection. We started Claritin last week and by this weekend he was not sleeping; literally NOT sleeping. No naps, not sleeping at night. So I stopped the Claritin. Like I said for every one "trial", we end up with 1 or 2 other problems.  We are going to start some multi vitamins and possibly some echinacea to see if we can help boost his immune system without the constant trial of new meds and antibiotics.
So we had our 9 month check up today. He is currently 24.5 lbs, 30.5 inches long and 18.9 head circumference. He falls in the 90 something percentile on everything. He is growing like a weed. The doctor was very pleased with his size. His ear infections are "gone", but he still has fluid in his ears. I am contemplating taking him to an ENT. Any thoughts, please email me. I asked what is execessive for ear infections and he said 8 in a year...so we have had 4 in 4 months??? Doesn't that say something? Who knows. I want the fluid OUT of his ears. I bet he will be able to hear so much more clear when he doesn't have any more issues with his ears.
We also talked about trying him on regular formula again. As most of you know we had several issues with his formula when he was born and went thru 5 kinds before we determined he was allergic to milk and soy proteins and he has been on a special formula called Elecare ever since. He said that we can start trying Nutramagen or Alimentum now. He should have outgrown that allergy by now. He said to still keep from giving any dairy products (yogurt, ice cream, etc until he is at least a year old. So sometime this week we will start trying the "cheaper" formula finally. Keep your fingers crossed that he does good on it. He said we will work our way down the chain (Nutramagen/Alimentum then Good Start, etc.) Hopefully he will not be on formula for too much longer. He is eating so good that sometimes he only drinks about 18-20 oz a day. His bottles are the equivalent of about 22 oz but he rarely finishes the afternoon or dinner bottles. I think we may start backing off of a day bottle soon to see how he does. He still needs his morning and bed time bottle, but I think he may do ok without one of the day bottles. He drinks a lot of juice/water during the day. His menu has grown also. Although he is not a fan of the foods with beef in them, he eats turkey mixtures pretty well. He loves pretty much all of the vegetables and fruits. As for solid foods, he eats cherrios, star puffs, sliced carrots in the can, sometimes he eats bananas, peaches and pears. He still does NOT like peas. We have tried them several times and the sweet peas in the can. He will eat the tomato tidbits at a restaurant and LOVES limes and lemons for some reason. He LOVES drinking out of a straw, but doesnt know how to hold the cup with the straw yet. He does great with his sippy cup although I think more of the juice ends up on him than in his mouth. He talks a lot now....its more babling than anything but we occasionally have a dadada mamamam babababab. We are trying to teach him sign language. He knows milk, juice and eat. Its pretty amazing. He is starting to mimmick me. If I say "touch the sky" and hold my arms up he will do the same. We are trying to teach him to clap now. He is still not pulling up on things yet, but I am totally ok with that right now. I need to child proof a lot more before he starts doing that. He may be walking if he ever figures out how to pull himself up.

Well that is what is going on with us right now. Love you all!

March 2008 - 1st day of daycare

3/25/08 - HAPPY EASTER to everyone! We had a great weekend and as you can see took lots of pictures! We did have to take Logan back to the doctor today. He has 2 ear infections (again). His left ear is pretty bad. He is back on all his meds again. We have an antibiotic, decongestant, motrin and ear drops. I know I keep saying it, but I really hope it kicks them this time. I just fear that one day he will have to get tubes. The poor thing is probably so tired of his ears bothering him. He has had a couple of rough nights of sleep. Hopefully the medicine will start working fast and help out the pain. We will keep you updated!

3/17/08 - 8 Months - Logan wants everyone to know that he can not wait to crawl/walk. It seems like it will be forever, but he does really WANT to move around with us. He is doing great! Just wanted to say HAPPY ST PATS DAY to ya!

3/5/08 - 7 months 17 days - Logan is getting to be such a big boy now. He talks a LOT (babbling mostly). Occassionally we get a long stretch of mamamamama or dadadadad or babababababbaba It's adorable. He has such a personality! He loves to laugh and giggle and started a few funny faces and giggles lately. He is soooo ticklish. Every part of his body has a tickle spot. His biggest tickle spot is the back of his neck. He cringes even if you touch his neck. It's hilarious!
Friday he will be going to daycare for the first time for a few hours. I am very nervous, but want Logan to play with kids and new toys. We hope to get him going a day or two a week. Mommy wishes she could stay home with him every day of every week, but right now that is not possible. Hopefully one day......for now I spend every waking minute with my little bundle of joy and enjoy every bit of it!!!
He slept thru the night for the first time on 2/21/08. He doesn't need his middle of the night bottle anymore!!!! THANK GOODNESS! His mornings vary. Sometimes he wakes up around 530, sometimes 630. He is eating like a little piggy now. His menu consists of the basic fruits: apples, pears, bananas, peaches and some really good veggies: green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, spinach and potatoes, and vegetable turkey. Next week we will try a new fruit combo. Every Sunday we start a new food. I try to alternate a veggie one week and a fruit the next. He has done great with everything except PEAS. he hates them. We have tried them a few times and will probably just try them mixed with other foods from now on. He loves eating frozen fruits out of the mesh bag eater thingy.
He has yet to have a tooth breah through, crawl, roll over consistently, etc. We all pretty much think he will walk before he crawls but we will see. As for the tooth thing, I didn't have my first tooth until I was 18 months old so we may have a long few months of teething ahead of us still.
All that being said, my little boy is happy, loved and very enjoyable to be around. Love - MOMMY

February 2008 - Toddler Car Seat for tubby

2/7/08 - Logan is growing like a weed. He is 22 lbs now. We had to go last weekend and buy him a new car seat. He loves it. He can see out the window now because he sits up so much higher. We are battling a pretty bad ear infection right now. We just started the 2nd 10-day dose of antibiotics. Hopefully this one works. He is sleeping a little better at night. Last night he slept until 515 before he had a bottle. That was not without a fussy periods, but a step in the right direction none the less. He is sitting up like a pro now. Today I bought him a sippy cup JUST TO SEE how he would do with it. I brought it home, put some water in it and handed it to him. He grabbed the handles and turned it up just like his bottle. It's like he has been doing it for 6 months. He is now eating all sorts of foods including beans, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, all the fruits and oatmeal/rice cereal. We have moved into the 2's and are really about to start experimenting. One new food a week is my goal. He is so ready to eat like a big person. If you are eating, he likes his lips and wants to eat too. It's hilarious. As long as you give him a little taste of what you are eating he is fine. PIGGY! Hope everyone is doing well. Hopefully little Will is going to come visit this weekend and we will have new pictures to post!!! HOPEFULLY Will can show Logan some crawling tricks!!!

January 2008 - Sitting up like a big boy

1/18/08 - Logan is finally 6 months old!!!!! We went for his 6 month Dr visit today. He is "perfect" the Dr said! He is 20lb 10oz (96%), 29.5"(99%) and head is 96%. We figure that he is almost half as tall as Mommy and Daddy! HA HA HA

1/3/08 - Well we made it to 2008. I never thought we would get here. So many milestones to achieve this year. As you can see in the pictures, Logan wanted to make sure he had one trick to demonstrate in 2007. He is sitting up now. It's like he woke up one day and said - "Hey - I can sit up". I absolutely love it. He balances himself really well. he doesn't really know what to do with himself yet, but he knows he likes it better than lying down! We had a great Christmas! Lots of fun toys and books and clothes! Unfortunately he was sick the whole week that mommy was off work.  He had 2 ear infections and went thru 2 antibiotics that did not agree with his stomach so we had to discontinue them. Luckily we went back today for a follow up and his ears look great. He still has some congestion, but seems to be a very happy baby again. He handed mommy PLENTY of sleepless nights over the past week. I never knew sleep deprivation could be so damaging to a person. He still wakes up for his bottle in the middle of the night and I think this week he is going thru a growth spurt because he can not get enough to eat. His eating times are all out of whack and vary by day depending on how his night goes. He is however eating 3 meals a day now along with his bottles so hopefully it is a matter of time before he starts backing off of the bottles and maybe lets go of the middle of the night bottle. His menu now includes pears, apples, bananas, green beans and carrots. next up is squash, sweet potatoes and peaches. Any mothers out there have ideas on how to get him to sleep soundly at night, I am open for suggestions!!! He has fussy periods almost all night. Most of the time a quick replacement of the passy fixes it, but it becomes very tiresome on mommy. I would really love him to start sleeping on his tummy, but he has not mastered the roll over yet, so I am hesitant. In fact Grammy, Mamaw and Ben have all seen him roll over, but not mommy! I want to see it so badly! He just fusses and gets himself so worked up that I end up flipping him over myself. He has become quite the mama's boy. I can't wait to hear those first words and they better be MAMA! ha ha ha If he says DADA then DADA can start getting up with him at night!!!! ha ha ha Well I better get to bed. Sleep when he sleeps right????? Happy New Year to everyone and we hope to see you all in 2008. Logan goes for his 6 month check up in a few weeks. I know - can you believe it! I have already started thinking about his 1 year birthday!!!

December 2007

12/24/07 - Merry Christmas! Logan is finally going to get to enjoy his first Christmas. I am so excited. I know next year will be more meaningful to him, but it means a lot to me this year. I am off work this whole week and am glad I get to spend some quality time with him. He is becoming quite the Mommy's boy lately. I love it!!!! A lot has gone on the last 2 weeks. He was having some really bad fussy days and started not sleeping good at night. I called the pediatrician and took him in only to find out he has his first ear infection in his right ear. Luckily I took him in early and we started antibiotics before it got too bad. He is sleeping a lot better now. Saturday night he didn't fuss all night and only woke up to have his bottle at 330. Seems like we might be making some break throughs.
Ben and I still have not seen him roll over, but he has done it for both of his grandma's. Just yesterday I noticed that he was laying down playing with a toy and dropped it by his side. Next thing I know he had it in his hand again. That is the first time I have seen him pick a toy back up. Also yesterday was the first time I know of that he fell to sleep in his car seat without me having to stick the passy in his mouth. I know these are all little steps, but hopefully we are going in the right direction!!
Mommy had a big week too. Last Sunday I was Saved at Church. It has been really hard on me lately with Logan and the new house and still considered being a newlywed. I asked the Lord for help and I have had a lot of weight fall off my shoulders. We had a dedication for Logan at Church yesterday. he absolutely loves being in Church. He is so pleasant and loves the singing.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas!
Love you all!!

November 2007

11/30/07 - Thanksgiving was great. We got to see Landon and Parker and Micheal and Kristy. Logan had a cold for the last week and had to go to the doctor on Monday. I know you won't believe this, but that chunky monkey is a whopping 18.3 lbs now. I know. I know. He's a big boy! It's mostly because we have started him on foods now and he hasn't backed off any of his bottles yet. So far we are eating applesauce, cereal, carrots and green beans. He LOVES to eat from the spoon and sit in his high chair. I also got him a new big boy bathtub. It's a blow up duck bathtub. He loves it. He loves his bath time so I knew he would like the tub. He still isn't sleeping thru the night, he hasn't rolled over and he is working really hard on trying to sit up. We have about a hundred toys and little entertainment things in our living room. It's like its own little playpen area.
Tomorrow we are taking him to have pictures done with Santa so I hope to have some new pictures up soon. Love you all.

11/9/07 - Logan had his 4 month check up today. Everything was great. He is in the 80th percentile on everything...big ole head (17+").....tall boy (26")...and a whopping 16.5 lbs!!! Yes that's right. It is not a typo..we have a sumo wrestler on our hands. I sure hope he starts crawling soon. It's like lifting weights everytime you pick him up. If next time you see me I look like a hunch back, it's from carrying my son and his car seat! His shots were good and he has done really well with them this time so far. No fever and just a little bit of fussiness.
Good news - - We have finally stopped swaddling him at night. He loves it. he is so free. He flaps his arms occasionally, but will usually go right back to sleep. I decided last night that since he wasn't snug in the swaddle that I needed to start putting him in the little sleepers at night for bed. Well all we have are the ones with feet in them (and I have about 20 of them). Well along with a big head......big belly and long legs comes big feet. My plan this weekend is to go thru all of them and cut the feet out so big foot can sleep at night! Ha
We are going to Birmingham next weekend to see all of Ben's relatives for an early Thanksgiving lunch. Most of them have not seen Logan so we are very excited to show off our bundle of joy! Plus we will finally get to see his little cousin Molly! I will update with lots of pictures as soon as I can.
We got moved into the house this past weekend and it is so awesome to be in our own house again. It's going to take forever to get unpacked it seems. A 4 month old doesn't allow much unpacking to go on. Hopefully this weekend I can get a lot of stuff accomplished and find my camera. I will take pics as soon as I can. Love you all!

11/1/07 - Logan had his first Halloween. We got to see the little kids in their costumes and then he was ready to go to bed.
He is growing like a weed. I always follow that up by saying that he is as heavy as a tree trunk. Ha Big boy is getting big. He is now eating ceral and applesauce. We tried some bananas last night and he wasn't quite sure of them.  We may hold off on introducing them. We go back next Friday for his 4 month check up. I am curious to see how much he weighs now. We are still working on getting rid of the middle of the night bottle, but he isn't quite ready to throw it away yet. He is on a pretty good schedule. Eating every 4 hours still.
Like I said in one of the pictures, he still hasn't rolled over. I know he will do it in his own time, but I want him to do a trick already. At this point I think he may sit up before he rolls over. He is getting to be so strong. It's amazing how much he has changed in 4 months.
We are supposed to close on our house tomorrow. Finally I can get his nursery decorated!!!! I can't wait. I will take lots of pictures once we get in the house. It's so pretty!!!!

October 2007

10/17/07 - WOW Logan is already 3 months old. I can't believe it. He has changed so much. I have been really busy. I started back to work on the 10th and it has been really hard on mommy. I miss my little boy everyday. I get about 2 hours with him at night before he goes to sleep. I can't wait for him to be a little more interactive. He smiles ALL the time and laughs and talks up a storm. He is getting to b e a BIG boy. Growing like a weed. He is already trying to sit up. He is still pretty wobbly, but he tries really hard. Sorry it took so long for the update. I hope to be able to keep up once I get back in the swing of work and everything.
